Part of a subseries of three paintings (The Natives, The Immigrants, The Aliens)
Plants can be put into three categories: native, introduced, and invasive. The ecological landscape is very important to Hawaii. Because of its isolated nature, native plants and animals are unique to the islands and somewhat fragile. Each painting from this subseries depicts the plants and flowers of Hawaii in its respective category.
The Immigrants illustrates a portion of the ecological landscape that is introduced to Hawaii.
