This Wiki Walk began when I was eating gau, a glutinous rice cake typically eaten during the Lunar New Year. Out of curiosity, I began reading about the origins of Cantonese cuisine and the therapeutic attributes that were assigned to different types of foods. According to Chinese food therapy, one’s health is dependent on the balance of “cooling” and “warming” effects of different foods.
From there, I learned about various Chinese candies, the cultural significance of a phoenix, and alchemy.
